Hitting philosophies vary but we find that having a visual representation of the core message is helpful. We distilled the core tenets of our approach into a 4 step panel. At hitting practice we will hang these on the fence and do a brief review before getting started. In games, we will hang the 4th panel in the dugout near the lineup board.

Player Evaluations
Player evaluations can be useful and motivating, but they’re best suited for more competitive levels of play—think solid All-Star teams or above. On a talented team, players and parents will appreciate clear feedback on strengths, areas for improvement, and what a player can work on to reach the next level. Evaluations are also a valuable tool for coaches, helping you organize your observations and ensure you’re assessing players fairly and consistently.

Simple “homework” assignments can be a great way to reinforce important concepts outside of practice, freeing up valuable time on the field. They also help the girls recognize the effort you’re putting into their development and encourage them to take a more active role in improving their softball knowledge.
